SAAB issuses version #1 TSB for improvement to the crankcase ventilation system. |

| December 1999 |
SAAB releases TSB 210-1991 which notes that 4 cylinders engines are prone to carbon particles or loose deposits. |

| August 2000 |
SAAB issues TSB 291-2211 instructing the replacement of the PCV check valve and also banjo bolt to remedy blue smoke from tailpipe. |
|
|
| May 2002 |
SAAB issues version #2 (TSB 210-2353) for improvement to the crankcase ventilation system and instructs that all previous modifications be altered to meet new specifications. |

| November 2003 |
SAAB issues version #3 TSB for improvement to the crankcase ventilation system and instructs that all previous modifications be altered to meet new specifications. This modification causes numerous problems including increased oil consumption and oil foaming. This modification is scrapped in December 2004. |

| All 2004 and newer engines |
SAAB issues version #4 of the crankcase ventilation by making substantial changes to the engine block, oil trap, and related PCV components. These changes cannot be retrofitted to the 2003 and older B205 or B235 engines. |

SAAB scraps all PCV modifications to date and does not issue a new PCV solution. |

| January 2005 |
SAAB issues TSB 210-2496 regarding replacing the oil trap on the re-designed 2004- engines as existing system exhibits increased oil consumption under certain conditions. |

SAAB issues TSB 210-2508 instructing that the crankcase ventilation hose be secured noting that some hoses have detached thus reducing engine performance. |

| January 27, 2005 |
SAAB releases Question & Answer document for its customers outlining oil sludge and chain wear in the 9-3 (first generation) and 9-5 cars. |

| March 15, 2005 |
As quoted in Autoweek, SAAB states that 430,000 of its engines are prone to sludge--132,000 in the USA market. |

| April 2005 |
SAAB issues TSB 210-2554 regarding timing chain noise and engine sludge. |
|
|
| May 2005 |
SAAB issues 210-2417 and 210-2418 instructing that all B205 and B235 engines simply get the original PCV system. This is essentially the fifth version of the PCV system on these cars since their introduciton in 1999. These bulletins are later re-issued in April 2006 under the same TSB numbers although show version #6 of the PCV system. Version #6 is the current PCV version in use and is the most functional of all the PCV system modifications. |

SAAB issues a letter to affected customers acknowledging that a sludge problem might exist. |

| October 2006 |
SAAB issues TSBs 210-2417 and 210-2418 which is version #6 for improvement to the crankcase ventilation system and instructs that all previous modifications be altered to meet new specifications. Though dated April 2006, new PCV system kits are not available until October 2006. |
