0.3 Chemicals & Solvents

A wide variety of both chemicals and solvents are used in a modern auto repair shop. Chemicals are substances that are used to change, transform or clean while solvents are substances used to dissolve, dillute, or clean. While both sometimes share the common trait of cleaning, the process by which they clean is different.

Using chemicals and solvents can be very dangerous, so observe all safety protocols when handling and using these substances. Additionally, be sure to observe all environmental regulations and procedures. For more information on handling and recycling fluids, see these protocols: Chemicals & Solvents Protocol and Recycling & Waste Protocol.

Here is some general information from SAAB regarding chemicals.
