In order to consistently repair cars to exacting standards an auto repair shop must have a set of standards that are evenly applied for every repair situation that arises. These standards, or protocols, underscore the need for attention to detail at my shop and also illustrate the vast knowledge and expertise needed to properly fix something as complex as a modern automobile.

Listed below are the shop protocols for this shop. These protocols allow everyone that works here to understand the standards of quality expected of them and further helps every person in this repair shop achieve the single goal of using the best tools and equipment to repair SAABs to exact factory specifications. Repairing cars is often a complex and dynamic process and any single repair can require dozens of tools, hundreds of decisions, and a great depth of knowledge. What occurs during even the most routine repair can be so complex that if any one step is left out during the process that disastrous consequences can occur. Injury or death are eminently possible if a critical steering bolt is left loose or brakes are incorrectly installed and understanding the complexities involved during the complicated repair process ensures long lasting quality repairs. Secondarily, even if safety isn’t compromised, not following the proper repair protocol results in lower reliability, which can leave people stranded on the roadside.

So, seemingly incidental or insignificant factors such as thread treatment, tool techniques, sealant usage and the like are actually critical aspects of every repair process. This approach to auto repair, while atypical compared to most garages, is crucial to ensuring the longer lasting repair possible. Additionally, the environment in which the repair occurs—the actual shop itself—also plays an important role in the quality of auto repair so consequently if the shop does not have a set of uniform rules it is likely that repair standards will suffer. Issues like floor layout, floor and wall cleanliness, equipment location and much more are all important factors attaining high quality work. By having clearly written shop protocol a definitive set of standards is created to ensure the best quality repairs.
